Black River Technical College (BRTC) has awarded Lyla Woods of Walnut Ridge the John and Wilma Whitlow Scholarship.
Woods is a 2026 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and is seeking a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Laura and Ronnie Woods of Walnut Ridge.
The John and Wilma Whitlow Scholarship was established in their memory by their children: Linda Riley, Pat Wilkins, and James Whitlow. The scholarship awards $500 each fall and spring semester to a Hoxie High School graduate and a Walnut Ridge High School graduate. To be eligible, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in a hard tech or nursing program.
