Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of SNAP Career Coach with the home office located in the Adult and Continuing Education Building in Pocahontas. Traveling to towns in Clay, Greene, Lawrence, and Randolph counties will be required. Some overnight travel will also be required for training and professional development. The applicant must have reliable transportation due to the travel required for the position. The SNAP Career Coach will be reimbursed for mileage incurred on the job. This position may require evening or weekend hours. The is a full-time, twelve-month position. This is a grant funded position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The SNAP Career Coach will act in a dual role as both a counselor and a case manager who will assess clients’ needs and provide direct support and services to participants. They will assist students with transition services such as exploring careers, goal setting, job search skills, resume preparation, completing a job application, interview skills, and referring participants to Adult Basic Education for testing. Clients wishing to enroll in post-secondary education/training and apprenticeship programs will also be assigned to this employee. The SNAP Career Coach will also be responsible for connecting clients to resources such as transportation, childcare, housing, counseling, etc. In addition, they will complete any professional development needed as determined by the Adult Education Division.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge and experience using MS Word, Excel, Zoom, or Go Meet (or another online meeting platform). The candidate must have the ability to be a self-starter and work with clients both online and in person. Other important skills include patience, effective listening, leadership skills, and organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant must have a bachelor's degree. In addition, they must complete the Career Service Provider Training within one year of hire.
