Student Requirements for Concurrent Classes

Any high school student that has completed the 8th grade and is enrolled in an Arkansas public school and is recommended by their high school principal or superintendent may enroll in college courses when the combined enrollments do not exceed a normal academic load.

  1. Must fulfill all guidelines as represented in the school handbook.

  2. Completed Application: This application can only be obtained from your school counselor.

  3. Complete the COMPASS/ASSET or ACT test:

Scores from the ACT or the COMPASS/ASSET tests will be required for all English and Math courses.

If you are taking other classes that do not require an COMPASS/ASSET or ACT test score, you do not have to take the tests to enroll; however, your grade will not be released until the the testing process has been completed.

  4. Full Payment based on the tuition rate and number of classes enrolled in.  There is no payment plan for concurrent classes. Classes must be paid in full by the first date of class.

  5. Testing should be scheduled through the guidance counselor in the previous semester before you plan to take a class.  Re-testing should occur every 30 days in order to acquire the desired test score(s).

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements. Students may complete specified General Education courses anywhere in the public system as well as many courses in the degree/major that have been pre-identified for transfer.  This system is designed to assist in planning from the high school level through the adult workforce.
